Tennis Fan Wins Car with Top Shot

FORMER Bundaberg man and now Gladstone teacher Steven Grogan stood at the baseline of the Queensland Tennis Centre in front of a packed house with one chance at winning a new car.

After three rounds of the Volkswagen Baseline Challenge the 22-year-old Gladstone Central State School Year 3 teacher plopped it over the net, it bounced and snuck through the hole in the back of the car's boot.

He went nuts in front of about 10,000 people as if he was the reason they were there, rather than watching Roger Federer play Milos Raonic in the final of the Brisbane International.

"It was the biggest fluke," Steven said.

"I hadn't played tennis for 10 years but it came back to me pretty quickly."

Steven got the tickets to the tennis for his birthday from his girlfriend, Georgia.

During one of the matches he caught a ball in the crowd which gave him a shot at winning the car. …
