NOTICED a few extra supercars on the road this year?

Seems we Aussies are buying them in record numbers if 2015's sales figures are any indication, with Ferrari seeing an improvement of 48% over 2014, and Italian rival Lamborghini up a staggering 211%.

Prancing horse badged lovelies - the cheapest on sale the $409,888 California T - galloped out of showrooms in more numbers than ever before, with 167 finding new owners. Lamborghini meanwhile - its entry the Huracan LP 580-2 at $378,900 - secured 84 sales: a mighty leap over the 27 sold in 2014.

Brit rival to the thoroughbred Italians, McLaren, also had a good 2015. It's range, starting with the $325,000 540C, saw 36 Aussie sales, up from the 26 of 2014. Maserati can also rejoice with 519 sales (the Ghibli, it's cheapest at $139,900) seeing a leap of 29% over 2014, while Aston Martin (starting at $219,895 for the V8 Vantage GT) shifted 130 cars in 2015, up 22% on the previous year.

Porsche also had a brilliant year with overall sales up 45% in 2015. …
