PWC Grows Newcastle-Based Transaction Services Team

THE transaction services team in Newcastle was involved in a number of notable deals throughout 2015 including the IPO of SCS, the acquisition of Seaward Group by Metrawatt and the BGF investment in Chemoxy.

These were preceded by the disposal of Aesica Pharmaceuticals to Consort Medical Group in November the previous year.

Kevin Barnard, a director who leads the team in Newcastle and has been in the North East deals market for the last 15 years, said: "Our transaction services business is going from strength to strength with a dedicated full-time team here in Newcastle for almost 20 years. I am passionate about the North East and our clients really value being able to use local advisers for their due diligence requirements who also have a wider network of industry specialists and are supported by commercial, operational and valuations experts from across the PwC network as required.

"We also have a dedicated team advising on sale and purchase agreements and appropriate completion structures to maximise value for our clients on deals.

"We are continually investing in our local transaction services team and this year made the senior appointment of partner Will Oxley who will lead our Yorkshire and North East TS practice." Will joins from Grant Thornton, where he led the firm's transaction services team across the North, as well as overseeing its Leeds and Newcastle practices as office senior partner. Will is a longstanding and well known dealmaker in the region, supporting private equity firms, funders and corporate clients through mergers, acquisitions, fundraisings and disposals. Having trained in the region, he then spent time in London and Australia, before returning to Yorkshire in 2004. In recent years Will has advised on a large number of regional transactions including the disposal of TSC Foods, the change in market by CPP plc, the refinancing and MBO of Adare Group, as well as a number of strategic acquisitions for listed businesses. …
