New Registrars Settle into Alma Street

DR MYO Aung is a long way from her home town of Yangon in Myanmar.

The Rockhampton doctor studied at the University of Medicine in Yangon before making her way to Australia in 2009, and Rockhampton in 2015.

"I like the weather in Rockhampton because it is similar to my country and the people are friendly," she said.

"It is good for training as well because you have the hospital very close.

"The health system here is good, and the lifestyle is better."

Registrars are required to spend 12 months in each practice, and Dr Aung has moved to the Alma St clinic from Allenstown Medical Centre.

She said she always knew she wanted to be a doctor since she was a child.

"We are only in training so I want to learn as much as I can and I want to help the people of Rockhampton," she said.
