Local Teen Ready to Shine at Bluesfest

BYRON Shire teenager Hannah Parrington, 14, is getting ready for her Bluesfest debut this year by launching a new EP titled Lost.

The release is already available on iTunes and Spotify, and contains five songs written by Ms Parrington and mixed by Paul Pilsneniks at Pilsonic Productions.

The local teenager earned her right to be at the Bluesfest Busking Stage this Easter Sunday, March 27, after winning the Youth Prize at the 2015 NCEIA Dolphin Awards for her song Bones.

In 2014, the then 12-year-old took out the number one spot for Lismore's Fast Track Talent Showcase, with a voice to rival the pros and the guitar skills to match.

Hannah started piano and singing lessons at the age of eight after being inspired by music idol Taylor Swift.

At 11 she picked up the guitar, adding to her impressive musical repertoire.

Hannah as since written more than a dozen original songs and describes her style as "folky-pop".

"One of my biggest influences is Taylor Swift, but I am also inspired to write music from my own experiences and other people's perspectives as well," she said. …
