Hall Artist Keen for Unexpected

VISUAL artist Craig Walsh is looking forward to embracing "the unexpected" when working on the If These Halls Could Talk project.

Mr Walsh is working alongside The Channon Hall committee to deliver a work that is inspired by the unique story of the hall.

"Letting those ideas from the community manifest in a way they probably haven't thought about or seen before ... it's unexpected, it's exciting" he said.

"There's a local knowledge that far exceeds what I know about the place, so that informs the project.

"It just works very well as a collaboration."

Community consultant on The Channon Hall committee, Rena Woolbank, said this large-scale project would bring attention to The Channon.

"There's a lot of community projects happening at The Channon ... this will be a great focus point to get them highlighted," she said.

"We want (the hall) to be a place where the community can go to create art. …
