THE Gympie Hydrotherapy Group resolved this week to "remain eager to work with Gympie Regional Council to have a hydrotherapy pool built and managed in a way that best meets the needs of our community and is most cost effective".

Group spokeswoman Anita Femiano said yesterday that "since November 2010 Gympie community medicos, educators, service providers, swimming and fitness instructors, physios, OTs, exercise physiologists, former clients of the Blue Care pool and others have all been calling for a hydrotherapy pool to be integrated into the proposed new aquatic centre".

"Gympie Hydrotherapy Group remains convinced that the will of the people of Gympie region is best expressed in this proposal that our greatly needed hydro-therapy pool be integrated in the aquatic centre and managed as part of that centre," she said.

"Having two separate facilities, aquatic centre and hydrotherapy pool, both independently staffed and managed is wasteful. …
