GOLF: Golfers of all ages will benefit from a range activities happening across the region over the coming weeks, including a major women's tournament and twin golf programs running at both Gympie and Tin Can Bay.

The First Swing program sets out to kick start a life-long love of the game and is a great way for people, especially kids, to get introduced to golf.

It promotes skills development in a fun way and there's also a great social aspect to it.

MyGolf is the national junior golf introductory program run over 10 weeks and is aimed more at the older kids.

Recognised by Golf Australia and the PGA, MyGolf is the major driver of junior golf in Australia.

In March, the Gympie Ladies' Club will host a two-day 36-hole event with more than $5000 in competition prizes.

Ladies' Captain Robyn Jackson is hoping the tournament, scheduled for Sunday and Monday, March 6 and 7, will attract players from all over the state. …
