ANDY MURRAY has become a father after wife Kim gave birth to a baby girl.

The child, whose name has not yet been revealed, is believed to have been born on Sunday night.

The tennis star flew home after his Australian Open final defeat last month to be with his heavily pregnant wife.

He broke down in tears as he paid tribute to her before getting on the first flight to be by her side.

Before the tournament, Murray had spoken about the prospect of becoming a father for the first time, saying that his family would be his "priority". He said: "My child is more important to me, and my wife is more important to me, than a tennis match. It's a big change for me and my wife, but that's the current priority."

The couple, both 28, who married last April, were today inundated with congratulations on social media as the news of the birth emerged.

Sports presenter Gabby Logan wrote: "Kim and Andy Murray have had a baby girl -- huge congrats -- great news for Fed Cup team 2036. …
