BACK in 2008 Braid appeared on Xbox Live. As games go, it was one of the most unique I'd played.

Beautiful graphics and a haunting soundtrack combing with tricky yet satisfying gameplay, made for a magical and memorable experience.

Just a year later, and Braid's developer Jonathan Blow announced he was working on a second puzzler - The Witness.

Then 2009 gave way to 2010, and I'll be honest that by the time news of The Witness' release rolled around, I'd forgotten all about it.

But given that I'd been delving back into playing Braid here and there, I was excited to see what The Witness would be like.

The puzzler is set on a gorgeous 3D island, on which you have to solve puzzles to move around.

The plot is simple. You wake up all alone on this strange island.

You explore your surroundings, solving puzzles which increase in difficulty as you go.

The more you explore, the more clues to your identity you uncover. …
