ONE of the great debates at all golf clubs is who gets the best of the conditions, the morning or the afternoon player?

In Saturday's Monthly Mug we started with fine conditions but by mid-afternoon the rain had set in and only three groups completed their rounds.

They say the earlybird catches the worm and this was true on the weekend with all of the Mug winners coming out of the morning field.

Funnily enough, all of the runners-up were among the 12 players who finished in the afternoon field.

Only one player bettered their handicap all day and that was Peter Cunningham who took out B-grade with 68 net from Allan Volmerhause on 70.

Junior golfer Harry Law won A-grade with 70 net from Brad Watson on 71 while Allan Harris was the winner in C-grade with 71 net from Lou Jessen on 74.

In the ladies division only one golfer completed the round and therefore Genie Wills was the winner of the Monthly Medal. …
