Bridie Jackson & The Arbour THE first acts for this year's second Lindisfarne Festival have been announced with West Country rockers Reef due to headline on one of the two nights.

Also announced are The Cuban Brothers, Beardyman, Little Comets, Mercury-nominated C Duncan and Molotov Jukebox (complete with lead singer and actress Natalia Tena who was Nymphadora Tonks in the Harry Potter films and Osha in Game of Thrones).

Also due to perform is Kathryn Tickell, Northumbrian pipes virtuoso, and her band Superfolkus comprising some of the region's best young folk musicians.

Billed as a niche camping festival for over 18s, last year's inaugural Lindisfarne festival proved a great success meaning a follow-up was always on the cards.

This year's festival will again take place at Beal Farm, overlooking Holy Island, Northumberland, and is scheduled for September 1-4. Festival founder Conleth Maenpaa, owner of Nokomis and Bor Events, said: "We were completely overwhelmed by the feedback and support received for Lindisfarne Festival last year and we are working hard to build on this success.

"We were so proud the North East got behind us to make this happen and being shortlisted for best new festival at the UK Festival Awards 2015 was simply the icing on the cake, giving us a real platform to grow from.

"Our plan this year is to build on what we have created, growing capacity slightly as demand increases but still retaining the cool, intimate and friendly vibe we have become renowned for.

"We have a few surprises up our sleeves but can't reveal too much at this stage.

"We also want to encourage more first-time festival goers to come along as we had quite a number who attended last year and, once there, wondered why they hadn't come to one sooner."

Reef, comprising Gary Stringer, Jesse Wood, Jack Bessant and Dominic Greensmith, are due to take the headline slot on the Saturday (September 3). …
