T'S no secret that this year is all about virtual reality.

i Oculus Rift hit the ground running in January, putting its VR headset on pre-order with a hefty price tag of PS425.

Too rich for your blood? Then hold on to your hat. This week HTC confirmed the price of its VR kit, Vive.

Are you sitting down? That'll be PS555 of your British pounds.

At first glance, the massive price difference may seem like a suicidal move on HTC's part - that is, until you look at what you're getting for your money.

Unlike Oculus, which comes with a few cables, a sensor, Xbox controller and a couple of games; Vive comes loaded with goodies.

Straight out of the box there's the Vive Link Box and Base Stations, a pair of 360-degree Vive Controllers and earbuds - to completely immerse you in your virtual world.

Vive pre-order begins on February 29, with early adopters expected to take delivery in April. Think I'll be sticking with Google Cardboard until a lottery win...
