A popular local chef makes a public radio international debut, and a popular international chef makes a local appearance. It's Bizarro-week in Dining Notes.


Public Radio International and Wisconsin Public Radio host Michael Feldman and his "Whad'Ya Know?" crew will broadcast live from the Florida Theatre in downtown Jacksonville Saturday. Feldman will meet the "Most Interesting Man in Jacksonville," Wayne Wood, and enjoy food and cocktails with chef Tom Gray from Moxie Kitchen + Cocktails. The show airs Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on WJCT.


Renowned French chef Jacques Pepin will visit the Fernandina Beach Market Place farmers market on Satudray, Feb. 27, promoting the release of his new cookbook, "Jacques Pepin: Heart & Soul in the Kitchen."

Pepin is no stranger to the area; the first television series he filmed, "Everyday Cooking," was taped at WJCT in the early 1980s.

Bring your favorite Pepin cookbook for him to sign, or buy one of the two books available for purchase at the market. On North Seventh Street (between Alachua and Centre streets), the Fernandina Beach Market Place and the adjacent Fernandina Beach Arts Market will be open, rain or shine, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Feb. 27. Pepin will be signing his cookbooks from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.


Michael's Tasting Room in St. Augustine will present a five-course wine dinner featuring the Krupp Brothers Winery in Napa, Calif.

The dinner is 6 p.m Tuesday. Price is $110 per person (plus tax and tip), For reservations, call (904) 810-2400, or visit for a full menu and more information on Krupp Brothers.


Trasca & Co. Eatery has added Monday-through-Friday breakfast service.

From 7 to 11 a.m., you can order your choice of breakfast panini, oatmeal or a large fruit cup.
