Bank Bequest Tops $600K; Golf Day Benefits 8 Charities

EIGHT charity organisations yesterday grabbed a slice of $50,000 raised in a golf day.

Heritage Bank corporate communications manager Andrew Fox said: "It's not every day you get to play Santa and make wishes come true."

He and CEO Peter Lock presented almost $50,000 in grants to eight community organisations raised by the bank's charity golf day last year.

The money pushed total donations from the yearly charity event to more than $600,000 raised over 18 years.

Mr Lock said it was his first charity golf event since taking over as CEO and one that would stick with him for the remainder of his career.

"I could see how important the day was to the community," he said.

"The funds we've raised have helped a huge number of local organisations continue doing fantastic work in making our community a better place.

"We are very, very proud of the role Heritage plays in the region. …
