Kids Can Get Crafty at Rocky Gallery

THERE'S a fun-filled day of free hands-on art making activities the whole family can enjoy at Rockhampton Art Gallery on Sunday when APT8 Kids on Tour arrives in town.

Presented in conjunction with The 8th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art (APT8), the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) will be taking key activities from APT8 Kids on Tour to more than 50 regional venues, including the Rockhampton Art Gallery this Sunday.

The APT8 Kids on Tour aims to connect children and families to the work of some of the leading artists in the Asia Pacific region.

Chair of Rockhampton Regional Council's Communities Committee, Cr Rose Swadling said that APT8 Kids on Tour would give local children the opportunity to develop their understanding of the many diverse cultures from the Asia-Pacific region.

"Through APT8 Kids, our local children can explore how artists reflect their culture, beliefs and ideas through art," she said.

QAGOMA director Chris Saines said the gallery had worked closely with artists from six countries including India, Vietnam and New Zealand to develop dynamic and interactive activities which would travel throughout Queensland as part of APT8 Kids on Tour. …
