Glennie Teammates Set for National Titles

ATHLETICS: THERE is no sure recipe for success when you come up against Australia's best on the sporting field.

But for Glennie Athletic Club teammates Nicole Maynard and Lily Burns putting in the necessary hard work and being the best prepared you can be on the day is proving a winning formula.

Maynard and Burns last month maintained their place at the top of the Queensland junior athletics' tree and next week they are looking to take that winning form to Perth at this year's Australian junior championships.

Maynard's versatility was again on show at last month's Queensland Junior Athletics Championships where she won gold medals in her pet 400m hurdle event, the long and triple jumps.

The 18-year-old's impressive 2016 run continued at last weekend's Queensland open championships where she finished runner-up in the 400m hurdles and long jump with personal best performances .

Maynard will contest both events at the nationals before competing at the Australian Heptathlon Championships in Sydney from March 31. …
