| Kian flashes a bright smile for his 100 Heroes WHILE poorly youngster Kian Musgrove has reached the fundraising target for his life-saving treatment in America, the fight is far from over.

Three-year-old Kian, from Newbiggin Hall, is battling aggressive childhood cancer neuroblastoma for the second time.

And fundraising to help the brave youngster is continuing - with a team called Kian's 100 Heroes vowing to help.

Pledging to raise PS1,000 each, the Heroes have each set up justgiving pages and will host events, cut their hair and get tattoos to help save Kian's life.

Since his first diagnosis and treatment, people from all over the world have rallied behind his mother Kat as she desperately tries to raise money for life-saving treatment in New York. Her initial target was PS500,000, and with the help of celebrity Simon Cowell, an anonymous donor from Luxembourg and generous people throughout the North East, she managed to reach it.

However, these funds will only cover the initial treatment. They do not cover accommodation for the Musgrove family or any additional treatment Kian might need. Due to his condition, a simple cold will see him re-hospitalised, which could cost thousands of pounds.

100 Heroes is the brainchild of Punch-Drunk Comedy, which hosted a comedy boxing match which raised PS30,000 for Kian earlier this year.

"It was absolutely nuts," said Lauren Douglass, a spokesperson for Punch-Drunk Comedy.

She said the event inspired not only the Punch-Drunk team, but others, to want to do more. Kai Humphries, the founder of Punch-Drunk Comedy, came up with 100 Heroes after watching people try to find Kian a celebrity 'hero.'.

"It just occurred to Kai that maybe Kian didn't need a celebrity hero, maybe he just needs some everyday heroes," she said. …
