TO BUNDY residents, Hinkler House in the Botanic Gardens is a well-known historic memorial museum, made famous by the man who built it, aviator Bert Hinkler.

But for Southhampton woman Brenda Foster, it is much more personal than that. It is her childhood home.

Mrs Foster and husband Joseph are in Australia visiting family and decided to make the trip to Hinkler House.

"When my family and I moved to live in the house, I was only a little girl at the time. All I knew was Bert Hinkler the famous airman lived here," she said.

"I lived in the house from 1959 when I was about nine years old and then moved out in 1968 when I got married to Joseph."

Mrs Foster said being in the home brought back many memories of her time growing up in Southhampton and her engagement to Joseph. …
