Passenger Left at Coach Stop; Shocked Traveller Faced Alarming Prospect of Hitch-Hiking to Mackay

ELIZABETH Vincent doesn't think it's her fault she was left stranded an hour and a half from home. But Premier Motor Service begs to differ.

Ms Vincent, a passenger on a Mackay-bound bus that stopped for a meal break near Ilbilbie at 6am Saturday, was waiting near the coach for the driver to return when the unthinkable happened.

"I didn't see the bus driver get into the bus, but noticed it started moving away," she said.

"I thought he was just moving the bus but then he started going faster."

Not wanting to be left behind, Ms Vincent ran after the bus, waving her sarong to get the driver's attention. But it was gone.

In desperation she called the company; the best they could do was suggest she ring back Monday morning and talk to a manager.

"There were plenty of cars going by but I wasn't prepared to hitch-hike on the side of a highway in the rain.

After waiting an hour and half at the isolated stop an elderly couple offered to take Ms Vincent to Sarina. …
