Car Lovers Rev Up for Shows

TOOWOOMBA car lovers are giving their pride and joy a final coat of wax ahead of this weekend's double header.

The High Altitude Rod Run and the Dubs on the Hill classic VW car shows are being staged on Sunday, offering free major annual events across the region.

The Toowoomba Hot Rodders Club committee is ready for the club's event to roll after struggling to find a suitable venue.

Member Steve Metzroth will have his 1939 Ford Mercury with a 400 Chev V8 engine on show as one of more than 100 vehicles.

Secretary Claire Moore said while the event was regularly held in Margaret St, major developments made that difficult.

Last year the club used the Toowoomba Railway Station car park, but with more hiccups in planning, this year it was using the TAFE Queensland South West's car park off Lindsay St.

"We still have all the great old cars, music, market and food stalls and a jumping castle," she said. …
