Gun Found in Car Linked to Shooting, Say Police

A GUN believed to have been used in a shooting in Sunderland has been found inside an abandoned car.

An ongoing feud between two gangs in the city is thought to have resulted in a window being shot at in Edgmond Court in Hollycarrside on February 29. At the time, no one was inside the house.

An investigation was launched and armed police swooped on to Fulwell Road soon after, arresting five men.

In the following weeks, a total of 21 people were arrested from across Sunderland and Newcastle, with several houses searched and cannabis and amphetamine drugs seized.

Vehicles were also stopped and checked in the Sunderland area, with PS2,400 in cash recovered by police.

On Monday, March 15, an abandoned black Land Rover Sport was discovered in Manston Close in Moorside. Officers searched the vehicle and found a revolver inside which is believed to be the firearm used in the Hollycarrside shooting. Detectives are currently in the area carrying out house-to-house inquiries, and CCTV is being viewed. …
