AS RESIDENTS who live around and travel on Maleny-Kenilworth Rd protest over the state of the road others are calling for repairs to Kenilworth-Eumundi Rd.

Conversation around the rural road got heated on the Daily's Facebook page, where one Daily reader asked: "Should Kenilworth-Eumundi Rd be upgraded due to the damage the quarry trucks have caused?

"As it is a tourist route perhaps an alternate route to keep quarry trucks off the main road and safe for cyclists and drivers," they said.

Tim Brown said it was a matter of time "before something goes very wrong".

He said during one early morning drive between Belli Park and Eumundi he counted 27 trucks towing dogs on the road.

"It's ridiculous to think that 40 plus tonne (trucks) can travel over 80kmh on this road," Tim said.

"It's deteriorated so much recently that it's not funny.

"Fix the road, reduce the speed limit for all vehicles but particularly heavy vehicles, and police it."

Chelsea Turvey said travelling the road was a frightening experience. …
