Dawn Is Nearly Half Way There; Family Fulfils Wish for Final Ride, Now

LOCAL identity Dawn Flanagan is half way to achieving her final wish, to be laid to rest beside her son Donald, overlooking the river at Newton Boyd.

On Saturday about 60 people gathered at her daughter Wendy Gordon's property for a memorial service to her mother.

Ms Gordon said her mother wanted one last ride on horseback and her remains to be left next to her son's grave at Newton Boyd.

Her daughters, Ms Gordon and Kerry Flanagan, along with their families achieved the first part of the wish on Saturday, when her ashes were carried on horseback onto the property at Calliope.

Ms Gordon's property has been the venue for the Clarence Valley Country Music Muster and a crowd of people, including family, neighbours and friends gathered to send of Mrs Flanagan in style.

"It wasn't sad as such," Ms Gordon said. "It was more a celebration of mum's life. …
