Royals Massive Catch; Livermore Set to Make a Return to Where It All Began

HOCKEY: In what is a major coup for the Clocktower Hotel Royals A-Grade side merely days out from the start of the Premier League season, Olympic hero Brent Livermore will line up in green and white for the next 12 months.

Livermore joins the Royals side as a pre-arranged swap for up-and-coming star Sam Young who will take Livermore's place as captain/coach of the Brisbane-based Labrador.

It is another step in the right direction for Young who will line up for the Australian Schoolboys in South Africa later this year.

The move has been rumoured in hockey circles since Labrador made the journey to Grafton to play in the Mike Rowe-Dawn Scott Memorial Carnival last month.

Livermore will bring a swathe of knowledge to the defending premiers after being the captain of the gold medal winning Kookaburras squad at the 2004 Olympic Games.

Livermore, a local legend, played his formative years in the Grafton Hockey Association before joining up with the Australian Institute of Sport. …
