IT was unlucky 13 for titlechasing Gateshead Rutherford Ravens.

In the one match played in the Northern Division, they lost 3-1 at home to Blyth Town.

The Ravens, with a maximum points haul from their opening 12 games, dominated the first half but could not take their chances and went in at the break a goal down.

Rutherford spurned numerous opportunities to take the lead before falling behind to Blyth's only effort after 25 minutes.

A free-kick from 25 yards was struck powerfully by midfielder Laura Jobson, the ball flying in over the head of the stretching goalkeeper McTague for her third goal of the season.

The Ravens were then denied an equaliser when visiting goalkeeper Jodie Kendall produced a superb diving save as the hosts, who were camped in the Blyth half, tried to find an equaliser.

Blyth knew they had to change things and halftime substitutions saw them vastly improve as their Newcastle United contingent wasted little time in securing the points, both scoring their first goals. …
