Camp Set to Bring on Fun; Lake Moogerah Is the Place to Be for Innovative New Music and Arts Festival in May

MOUNTAINOUS hikes, singing around a camp-fire and taking a dip in the local lake are fond memories most Aussies have from their time at school camps.

A new music and arts festival is now offering adults the chance to relive the nostalgia of the classic school camp, albeit with a few added luxuries.

Instead of trail mix and burnt sausages campers will enjoy food cooked by professional chefs and all the beer they can drink at the upcoming Death Valley Fun Camp.

The weekend getaway, hosted by Brisbane's Death Valley Bar and Records, will be held at Lake Moogerah from May 21-22.

"I've always had a romantic notion of school camps and I wanted to recreate that but make it even better," organiser John Patterson said.

"It's your 24-hour escape from the city with regular camp activities like kayaking and swimming plus things like pickling workshops, craft and flag making.

"We'll have real chefs in the kitchen and people can dance the evening away to a covers set from Brisbane garage-rock alumni Top Shelf Wedding Band. …
