Lower Silver Lining; Magpies under 18s Side Will Play in Black and White in 2016

RUGBY LEAGUE: In what is good news for the Lower Clarence Magpies club their under-18 side will hit the field this season in the NRRRL competition.

The Magpies side have found a back door into the competition by linking up with returning club Tweed Coast Raiders.

The Raiders were ready to register teams in both First and Reserve Grade but lacked the numbers in their junior ranks to field an U18s side.

This is where the Magpies players will slot in to play under the Tweed Coast club banner.

But the Magpies will keep their club colours and name for the season despite playing for a different club.

Magpies club president Darrin Heron was ecstatic with the news and believes it will give the club a better chance to return to the fold next season.

"I am happy for our U18s side," Heron said. "They are raring to go, they just want to play football.

"We put this decision to the boys in the side. …
