Brothers Bulldogs Get Kick out of Grant

THERE will be new footballs and equipment at one of the Bundaberg AFL teams after they received funding from AFL Wide Bay.

In conjunction with Hart Sports the Brothers Bulldogs have received $150 dollars to assist with their Auskick program this year.

Secretary of the club Sonya Wirth said the club appreciates any help it gets.

"The grant will give us valuable equipment to help out the kids," she said.

"It was an easy process which was good for us."

The news comes at a time where the competition is down on numbers for their juniors programs.

"Numbers this year are a little bit less than last year," she said.

"We've converted a few players but is it hard especially being in a rugby league town."

"It also doesn't help when the Lions aren't doing well and that has a big impact.

Wirth added the club is doing everything it can to attract youngsters to the club.

"The club has handed out 10,000 flyers and run a newspaper and radio campaign," she said. …
