Logan Powell Heading to Rio; Mackay Swimmer in Paralympics

SWIMMING: Former Mackay swimmer Logan Powell is going to have to keep his dirt bike in the shed a little bit longer.

The teenager has qualified for the Paralympics.

"I want to ride my dirt bike, although I can't risk injury, so it's going to have to stay in the shed a bit longer," Logan said.

When the team was announced Logan said it was an "unreal feeling".

"I was swimming all last week and I knew I did a good time that could potentially lead to me qualifying," he said.

"You never find out until the last day, I was kind of in two worlds, I didn't know if I was going or not."

Logan was involved in an accident as a child and lost part of his leg.

"After I lost my leg I didn't really let it affect me," he said.

"I grew up with two older brothers. …
