Gray Officially Announced as Mandarin Coach; Former Jags Quarterback Says He Has Great Opportunity with Mustangs

Mandarin hired a former Jaguars quarterback to take over its football program.

After a week of buzz about his impending hire, Quinn Gray was officially announced as the new head coach of the Mustangs. Gray, who was with the Jaguars from 2002-07, spent last year at Whitefield Academy in Mableton, Ga. Gray has already returned to the area and said he's eager to get plugged back in locally.

The hire of Gray was not unexpected.

The news of him accepting the position surfaced early last week, although the school took some time to formalize the hire.

"It's an opportunity, a great opportunity," Gray said. "It's a great opportunity to be back in Florida. I've got roots here. It's sort of where I've grown. There's a good amount of talent coming back. They had a very, very good taste of success last year. They didn't reach the ultimate goal, but I know that they're looking forward to getting back."

Gray has two years of head-coaching experience and is a combined 7-14. …
