SUNSHINE Fund mothers will join Miss Newcastle finalists on the catwalk to add a touch of glamour to a charity fashion show.

A glitzy night is being hosted at popular restaurant-bar Babucho on Newcastle Quayside where fashionistas and foodies will indulge their tastes - all in a good cause.

The lunchtime event in May is being organised by Gordon Brown Law Firm for the third time following the success of previous years which raised more than PS12,000 for Sunshine Fund.

And this time around hopes are just as high as mums of some of the disabled children helped by The Chronicle's charity do their bit to showcase the latest summer fashions.

Among them will be Rachel Kaczmar whose son Max has benefitted from specialist equipment. The grateful mam now helps raise money herself for the fund including signing up to its annual Go Bananas appeal.

"I'm excited and proud to be supporting the Sunshine Fund this summer by getting involved with fundraising events," she said.

"It means a lot to be able to give back and help in any way I can.

"By raising money for Go Bananas this June, it means more local children like Max will get the equipment they need."

Another mother who will be modelling in the show is Debbie Clelland who said she is "delighted" to be involved.

"It's nice to give something back to the Sunshine Fund," she said.

She too will be supporting Go Bananas this summer. Her daughter Abbie is set to be among the children to benefit from the appeal, thanks to plans to buy a hydrotherapy pool to help her with mobility. Both of them, she said, are very excited. "This equipment will make a huge difference to the family as a whole," she said.

Also strutting their stuff on the catwalk will be finalists of Miss Newcastle and clothes on display will come courtesy of intu Eldon Square and intu Metrocentre - long-term supporters of the charity - which will be offering guests an exclusive preview of the summer 2016 fashion trends. …
