Live and Local Key to Unlocking Glory Days; Casa Mia Owner Puts on a Show

CASA Mia is bringing the old Bodega and Pancake Manor restaurant back to life with some live entertainment.

The restaurant held its first cabaret night on Sunday and hopes to continue with live music, comedy and monthly cabaret shows.

Casa Mia has undergone major refurbishments with a new performance stage completed as part of the project.

Casa Mia owner Mario Grimaldi took over the lease in October and is refurbishing the complex over four stages.

He hopes to build a fully insulated outdoor function area, and open up the old alleyway back entrance for a cafe section.

It is the third restaurant for Mr Grimaldi and the sixth restaurant in his family.

His father and uncle run successful restaurants in Brisbane.

"We're bringing back live music, we're bringing back functions and weddings, because this venue has huge potential," Mr Grimaldi said.

"We can seat up to 400 here. …
