CAUGHT twice drug driving and once drink-driving within the space of a month has put a Toowoomba man on 12 months probation to address his use of substances.

Jac William Bede Hewson was pulled over by a police patrol while driving on South St about 9.15pm, February 2, Toowoomba Magistrates Court heard.

Testing positive to a presumptive saliva test, a sample was sent for analysis and showed he had methylamphetamine in his system at the time, police prosecutor Alistair Windsor told the court.

In the early hours of February 21, the 25-year-old was pulled over by a police patrol on Neil St, this time blowing a breath/alcohol reading of 0.082, Senior Constable Windsor said.

Then on the afternoon of March 6, he was again stopped by police while driving on Brigalow St, Newtown, this time testing positive to the illicit drug MDMA (ecstasy).

Hewson pleaded guilty to one count of drink-driving and to two counts of driving with a relevant drug in his blood or saliva. …
