JUDGING for this year's CIPD North East of England HR&D Awards is getting under way and the judging panel will soon be gathering to begin the difficult task of selecting the winners of the eight trophies.

Now in their 10th year, the awards celebrate the best employers across the region and they are open to all types of organisations, regardless of size or sector.

Chair of the CIPD's North East branch Elouise Leonard Cross said: "We are delighted to have brought on board the panel of HR and development specialists to judge the awards.

"They are experienced professionals and we really think it adds something to the awards to have a respected independent panel like this who can reflect a wealth of expertise and different viewpoints in the judging process. It means that every application is looked at on a rounded way and from different perspectives."

The panel includes: Kelly Angus, director of human resources, Northumberland County Council Kelly joined Northumberland County Council in November 2015 from Northumbria Healthcare NHS Trust, where she held the post of deputy director of human resources. With a career which has predominantly been within the public sector and has included more than 20 years in the NHS, Kelly has held a number of leadership roles both within general management and human resources.

Andy Holgate, director, Holgate HRAndy has been a chartered fellow of the CIPD for 15 years, and has also assessed for the 'Experience Assessment' route to membership. During his career, he has led large HR functions within both FTSE 250 businesses and the not-for-profit sector. In 2009 he co-founded Holgate HR, which provides a range of organisation development consultancy and talent management solutions to a diverse client base. …
