Live Well, Get Active Girls, Fitness Program Starts Next Week

LIVINGSTONE Shire Council is laying the foundations for a healthier future for the shire's young women with a free nine-week programme launching next week.

Live Well, Get Active is a physical activity and healthy living program designed to teach young women how to develop and build healthy habits, which will in turn lead to a healthy lifestyle.

Sport and Recreation councillor, Tom Wyatt said the program aims to give participants the opportunity to make positive changes to their wellbeing.

"Live Well, Get Active is a great program available to young women in our shire over the age of 14," Cr Wyatt said.

"Not only is it a great exercise program, but it equips them with the information they need to make healthy lifestyle choices.

"A typical week within the Live Well, Get Active programme includes two sessions facilitated by Yeppoon Jungle Gym focused on increasing your physical activity levels, one session facilitated by the Capricorn Coast Netball Association to develop fundamental netball skills, and one session facilitated by Livingstone Shire Council that encourages increased use of local active recreation infrastructure. …
