Is No London Party Safe from the EU Debate?

A NIGHT of going out, and staying in, as The Londoner party-hopped in west London but couldn't escape the raging EU debate. Particularly loud were the cries of two of the country's greatest legal minds: Dame Helena Kennedy and, um, Nancy Dell'Olio.

First we were at the Man Booker International Prize at the V&A, where Han Kang's The Vegetarian took the gong and Kennedy took the opportunity to politicise the prize by reminding guests of the virtues of the In vote. "There is a debate going on in this country about whether we close in and reduce ourselves in an island that celebrates what we are rather than engaging with the fact that we are a changing island, an island that is enriched by other people ... That's why we have to have our gates wide open to the world."

The Londoner spoke to her after the announcement and she confirmed that she was indeed talking about the EU referendum. …
