THE Murwillumbah Vulcans under-13s girls' side has been propelled to the top of the ladder in the Northern Rivers Women's AFL competition after two weeks of domination.

Taking on the Brunswick Heads Bulldogs in Round One, young star Georgia Hutton piled on seven goals to lead the Vulcans to a 60 point, 11.6-72 to 2.0-12 win at Brunswick Heads last Sunday.

Hutton's teammates Lana-Lee Johnson, Bella Kidman, Letisha Giddy and Zali Zuschke also hit the scoreboard while dominating in the midfield, while defender Alexandra MacDonald set up many a play with her kicking skills out of the back half.

Taking on fierce local rival the Tweed Coast Tigers in Round Two, the Vulcans once again dominated, keeping the Tigers scoreless while piling on 9.6-60 in another big win.

Coach Andrew Kidman said the girls had a strong preseason and results were a testament to their commitment.

"I think they've realised how strong they really are as a side and they've all bonded," Kidman said. …
