Chilly Mornings Not Enough to Put off Anglers

WINTER is slowly creeping up on us and despite the early morning chilly temperatures we still had plenty of anglers out on the waters chasing a feed.

Let's have a look at this week's fishing report.

Anglers are having a ball bagging out on the very popular winter whiting.

Great catches are coming from along the coast around Toogoom, Gatakers Bay and River Heads, and throughout the Great Sandy Strait out off Tuan, Maaroom and Poona.

Fresh yabbies and worms are working a treat and also the biodegradable gulp worm products are a fantastic and easy option as well.

Also in the Strait around these areas fishos are catching some very decent sized flathead and silver and black bream.

With many bait fish getting around at the moment, boaties are catching our pelagic species.

Fishing around the gutters out off and around River Heads has been producing some mackerel and trevally and flicking off the rocks around the point is always a popular spot.

There are also multiple reports of squid getting around so also keep a few squid jigs or a hand spear on board. …
