Pony Express to Provide Tarome Treat for Enduro Racers, Spectators

MOTORSPORT: Some of the top motorbike enduro races in Queensland are expected to compete at next month's KTM Pony Express event at Tarome, near Aratula.

The first round on June 5 is being run by Endurance Downunder Group, known as E.D.G.

Event co-organiser Karolla Harvey said another elite rider like Toby Price could be preparing to compete.

Price is an Australian off-road motorcycle racer who represents the Red Bull Factory KTM Rally team.

Price won his major event in Newcastle in January and holds first place in the Dakar Rally series.

"Dakar is known to many in the industry as one of the world most toughest enduro events ever to enter into,'' Harvey said. "It is a huge achievement."

While elite riders can compete, Harvey said the event was suitable for anyone who obtains a race licence.

The race format is a Pony Express, for junior and senior riders competing as a team of two or ironman.

Juniors race for three hours non-stop while changing with their partners each lap. …
