AUSTRALIA'S dairy farming crisis has hit headlines across the country, and the positive response in support of our local farmers has been enormous.

Ironically, World Milk Day is June 1 and the focus on milk is at the forefront of conversation.

Feedback from both local suppliers and retailers about what the campaign has done for the Fraser Coast region is welcoming, with an increased demand of stock seeing local product fly off the shelves.

Biggenden farmer Robbie Radel and his wife Michelle supply their milk to Pauls Parmalat in Rockhampton and said the support they had received in the past couple of weeks had been encouraging.

"The support we've been getting online is so great to see, but we need this support to keep going even after the publicity stops. "Every Australian drinks approximately 105 litres of milk a year, according to the Bureau of Statistics, so if everyone spends an extra 10 cents a week on milk, it will increase the income of a farmer by $88,000 a year. …
