A GRAINY image of a person wielding a baseball bat moments before the Oakey State High School was extensively damaged in a senseless act of vandalism could hold the key to solving the crime.

Toowoomba Child Protection Investigation Unit detectives believe someone in the community knows something about the vandalism and have again appealed for public help.

A high-profile engagement session at the school on Friday brought about few new leads, but detectives are certain somebody knows something.

Of particular interest is the identity of two people captured on the school's CCTV network on the night of May 21, shortly before the school was attacked.

Child Protection Investigation Unit Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Paula Smithard said while the two people might not be connected to the vandalism, they might have seen something that could help police.

"We believe more than one person is involved in this offence," she said. …
