Special School Nets $10Million for New Land and Classrooms

CLAREMONT Special School was one of the big winners in the state budget after securing more than $10 million towards new state-of-the-art teaching facilities at its Silkstone campus.

The project will include a new two-storey building which will house 10 additional classrooms and an administration area.

It will also deliver new roadway access, a car park and set down area as well as covered walkways between buildings.

Ipswich MP Jennifer Howard said this project was an example of the government's commitment to the education of students with disabilities.

She said construction was due to commence later this year and would be completed before the start of the 2018 school year.

"Claremont Special School is a highly regarded prep to year 12 school and has been providing crucial services to students with intellectual and multiple disabilities in the Ipswich area over the past 20 years," she said.

"Supporting children with disabilities is a high priority of the Palaszczuk Government. …
