Message in the Sand Ahead of Tees Tribute to Shooting Victims

A POIGNANT message in the sand appeared for the victims of the Orlando massacre as arrangements for a candlelight vigil were announced.

The simple message - scraped out in the sand by an unknown Redcar beach user - was spotted by staff at radio station Zetland FM and the photo taken from their Redcar Beacon studios.

It appeared on the day details were announced of a vigil for Teessiders wanting to pay their own respects to the victims of the Orlando atrocity.

Organised by Hartlepool-based lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) support group Hart Gables, the "Standing With Orlando" candleight vigil will be held in Centre Square, Middlesbrough, tomorrow at 5pm.

All are welcome, with people urged to bring along candles and flags.

Hart Gables' strategic manager Sarah Lewis said: "If people would like to come along and join us in solidarity to stand with Orlando, we are hosting an event this Thursday to remember those we have lost to America's worst ever mass shooting. …
