Haircuts Set to Help out; Young Mothers Brave Shave for Cancer Fundraiser

WHEN Holly Sly and Emily Cross heard of the plight of former Clarence Valley resident Kyle Budd, they immediately put their heads together to think of a way to help.

The solution turned out to be on their heads, and now both women are preparing to shave their hair off at a fundraiser at the Yamba Bowling Club.

All money raised will go to Mr Budd, a young father-of-two who was diagnosed with cancer in April and is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment.

According to a gofundme page set up to raise funds for Mr Budd and his family, the 30-year-old discovered he had cancer after collapsing at work. Since then he has not been able to return to work, giving rise to questions about how he will meet the needs of his young children.

And while neither Ms Sly or Ms Cross have never actually met Mr Budd, they work with his sister at the Yamba Bowling Club's Norfolk Bistro, and as young parents said they were able to relate to his situation.

"His children are quite young, and from a young parent's perspective that's a big strain, so our whole goal is just to give some relief," Ms Cross said. …
