Ditchburn Scot to Be Delighted with Cup Success of Hibernian; WOMEN'S FOOTBALL

NORTH East football coach Claire Ditchburn is celebrating glory on the other side of the border after seeing her side lift the Scottish Women's Premier League trophy.

Ditchburn, from Whitley Bay, is assistant coach of Hibernian Ladies who beat Glasgow City in the Scottish League Cup final 2-1 with a last-minute goal.

This is her second year as assistant coach at Hibs Ladies and last year the team narrowly lost out in the final, when Glasgow City lifted the trophy fora ninth year in a row.

This year, however, the young Hibs team finally broke City's monopoly by grabbing the winning goal just a minute before the end of injury time.

Ditchburn, who played for Whitley Bay High School and Northumberland Girls, has worked in Scottish football since moving to Edinburgh after gaining her sports degree.

After the final she said: "I am absolutely delighted for everybody involved. Last season we lost out to Glasgow City in two cup finals but manager Chris Roberts picked the team up well and our players learnt from the experience. …
