A FORMER Curtis Island worker has used his hard-earned cash to get ahead in the fashion industry.

He's created his own brand and taken it around the world. Josh Doble launched Freedom Rich late last year.

The brand is about chasing a dream and challenging the 'status quo'.

"My father had a heart attack in his early 40s and it shows you never know what curve balls life may throw at you and there is no better time than now to go after what you want," he said.

The 24-year-old said it was always a dream to create his own clothing brand.

The former APLNG mechanical fitter said from a young age, as a skateboarder, it was what he wanted to do.

After seeing a friend create his own business, Josh was inspired to create the brand.

"Most young people want to create their own brand but not many follow through with it because it's not a normal job," he said.

"If someone has a dream or an idea sometimes it seems too big or impossible but watching my friend's business develop helped inspire me. …
