05:30 Daughter pleads for missing dad's body A devastated daughter begged to be told where her missing dad's body is two years on from his disappearance. Robert Hutchinson vanished without a trace from his Sunderland home exactly two years ago yesterday. Although police believe he was murdered, the loving grandfather's body has never been found and no one has yet been charged with the killing. Robert's heartbroken daughter Paula has pleaded for someone to come forward with information about who is responsible for her dad's death.

07:00 North East votes on EU Referendum The polls for the EU Referendum opened after months of campaigning from the Remain and Leave groups. Voters from across the region went to their local polling station at schools, churches and libraries to have their say in the biggest referendum in living memory. The polls closed at 10pm so counting will continue overnight.

09:05 Flight chaos caused by French strike Newcastle jetsetters were caught up in flight chaos caused by a French workers' strike. Several flights to and from Newcastle Airport were delayed or cancelled because of an Air Traffic Controllers strike in France. Ryanair cancelled more than 50 flights nationwide and warned of further delays and cancellations while British Airways and EASYJET were among airlines forced to suspend services. Most of the delayed flights from Newcastle were headed to Spanish airports including Ibiza, Malaga and Lanzarote.

11:30 Man in critical state after being 'hit by JCB' Emergency services were called to a Tyneside housing estate after a man was reportedly hit by a JCB. The Great North Air Ambulance (GNAAS) was scrambled after reports of an incident on the Riverside Village, in Hebburn. Eyewitnesses have said a man was hit by a digger. A spokesperson from the GNAAS said a man in his early 40s was flown to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in a critical condition, suffering from serious chest and abdominal injuries. …
