Man Arrested for October Traffic Fatality in Arlington

Article excerpt

A 43-year-old Jacksonville man has been arrested on a DUI-manslaughter charge in the death of Daniel Wolfgang Johnson Oct. 16 in a traffic crash at Atlantic Boulevard and Indian Springs Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Brian William Gomer also was charged with possession of marijuana and cocaine, driving with a suspended license and failure to yield.

Johnson was eastbound on Atlantic near Indian Springs Drive when Gomer in a BMW 750 turned left from the westbound lanes of Atlantic about 8:20 p.m. and hit the side of the pickup truck, according to the Highway Patrol. The truck veered off the road and hit several trees, and Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.

After months of investigation, the Highway Patrol arrested Gomer on Tuesday at Patrol Troop G headquarters when he came in on an arrest warrant.
