IT is a measure of how dominant Novak Djokovic has become that he is no longer chasing records but setting his own, writes Chris Jones.

The defending champion's 6-4, 6-3, 7-6 win over Adrian Mannarino was his 30th consecutive Grand Slam victory as he overtook the record held by Rob Laver.

Djokovic can now set a mark that may never be beaten and said: "The record that I managed to break is one of the better ones because obviously as a professional tennis player, you always aim to play your best in Grand Slams.

"You want to be consistent and win as many matches in these tournaments that matter the most in our sport. Knowing that I won 30 in a row is very pleasing obviously. I want to keep on going. Let's see where it takes me.

"I have to be very grateful to have the opportunity to make history in the sport. …
